Work

Nonprofit websites, in practice.

The mission is clear. Programs are easy to read about. Reports are easy to find. Donors and partners each have their own page.

The problem

One homepage. Four audiences.

A donor wants to know where the money goes. A participant wants to know how to get help. A volunteer wants to know how to start. A funder wants proof that it works. Most nonprofit homepages try to say everything to everyone, and end up clear to no one.

We give each group a clear link on the homepage. Then a short path to the one thing they came to do.

Giving

A donation path that does not lose people.

  1. 1Why give
  2. 2What a gift does
  3. 3Give

Many people click Donate and then quit before they pay. We design the whole path: why give, what a gift does, then a short form people trust.

We work with the donation tool you already use. Your tax receipts and records stay where they are.

Show your results right on the page, with numbers and short stories. Don’t hide them in a report nobody opens.

Google Ad Grant

US$10,000 a month

Ready for the Google Ad Grant.

Google gives nonprofits that qualify up to US$10,000 a month in free search ads. The grant brings visitors. The website decides whether they stay.

We build the pages those ads send people to. Each page has one topic and one next step. It loads fast. And you can see which ads worked. If you do not have the grant yet, we can help you apply after launch through a separately quoted, paid marketing service.

Grant amount per Google Ad Grants, google.ca/grants.

  • Accessible

We build so people with disabilities can use your site. Text is easy to read. The site works with a keyboard alone. Images have text descriptions. We work toward the WCAG 2.2 AA guidelines.

  • English and French

Every site is structured for both languages from the first day. Adding the French content starts at $1,500 when you supply the text. French writing or review by a Quebec French writer is quoted separately.

  • Your team can run it

Post news, add events, update programs and publish stories without a developer. We train your team at launch and record the session for the next hire.

For your board

Built for board approval.

You probably need your board to say yes. We make that easy.

A fixed price

Your scope and price are confirmed in writing before you commit. No hourly billing.

Ownership

You own the finished website: the design, the text and photos, the code and the accounts. No required monthly fee. An optional care plan is $400 a month.

A timeline you can plan around

We plan your pages with you first. The six to eight weeks start when we have your main text and photos.

One page for the board package

A one-page overview of what you get, the price, timing and terms. Download the summary (PDF).

Payment terms

50% to start, 50% before launch. The payment dates are set out in your agreement.

From $6,000 CAD

You get one fixed price before we start. You pay half to start and half before launch. We plan your pages with you first. The six to eight weeks start when we have your main text and photos.

Fair questions

Why not a free website or a volunteer build?
For a new group with no staff, that can be the right call. We are a better fit when you need French, a donation page that works on a phone, Ad Grant readiness and a site your staff can update.
A volunteer built our current site. Can you work from it?
Yes. We keep what works, move your content over and point old links to the new pages. The logins end up in your organization's name, not one person's.
Can you help us get the Google Ad Grant?
We prepare your site for Google's website requirements, including HTTPS, a clear mission and useful content. Application support is a separate paid marketing service, quoted before work starts. Google makes the final decision on eligibility and approval.
We already use CanadaHelps or Zeffy. Can we keep it?
Where your donation tool allows it, we place the form on your own site, so donors can give without leaving. If you are still choosing, we will walk you through the trade-offs.
How do we get our board to approve this?
We give you a one-page summary for your board: what you get, the price, the timeline and the terms. You can download it above.
Who writes the text?
Your team knows the programs, so you supply the main text. We plan the pages, write the headlines and edit for clarity. Full copywriting is also available as an add-on.
Our funding is tied to a grant period. Can you match the timing?
Tell us the deadline at the first call and we will confirm whether we can work backwards from it. Payment is 50% to start and 50% before launch, with dates agreed in writing before we begin.
Can staff and volunteers update it?
Yes. Every website we build includes a content management system (CMS). Your team can update text and images, and add news, events, programs and team members using short forms. We train your team at launch and record the session.
Is the site accessible?
We build toward WCAG 2.2 AA, including readable contrast, keyboard navigation and clear form labels. We test before launch and tell you anything that still needs work. We do not issue accessibility certificates.
We serve people in Quebec. Do we need French?
If you serve the public in Quebec, plan for French from the start. It is cheaper to build in than to add later, and the site is set up for two languages either way.
