A website's price depends on what it needs to do and the work required to deliver it. Two ten-page projects can involve very different efforts if one uses a simple template and the other needs bilingual content, multiple services and integrations.
When setting a budget in Montreal, compare deliverables, responsibilities and recurring costs. A number alone does not explain what you are buying.
Published prices to compare in September 2026
These Canadian-dollar examples were checked on September 25, 2026. They show how scope changes the price; they are not a survey of Montreal agencies or a citywide average. Confirm taxes, recurring fees and the current quote with each provider.
| Scope | Published price | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Small site, 1 to 7 pages across two packages | $499 to $1,499 | OnePoint’s Montreal offer |
| Bespoke site, 8 or more pages | $5,000 to $10,000 | OnePoint’s Montreal offer |
| Clevr custom website | Usually $6,000 to $12,000 | Our current scope and pricing |
The first two rows are one provider’s published packages. They do not include the same work as every custom project.
The main types of project
A small website made with an online builder
A builder such as Squarespace or Webflow may suit a simple website managed by one person. You take on some of the planning, writing and setup, or pay someone to help.
Costs include the subscription, domain and extra services. Check current supplier prices and account for the time needed to prepare content.
A professional custom website
The work starts with your audiences, services and the action you want visitors to take. It includes structure, design, development, forms, checks and training.
Clevr projects start at $6,000 CAD and usually land between $6,000 and $12,000. A fixed price is agreed before work begins. Larger websites and complex features are scoped separately.
A store or complex application
E-commerce, member areas and specialized applications need a scope based on how they operate. Payments, data, integrations and support can have a large effect on the budget.
Clevr does not build online stores. For that need, look for an agency that builds online stores and a proposal tailored to your operations.
What changes the price?
The number of distinct page layouts often matters more than the total page count. Ten pages sharing a layout require less design work than ten different layouts.
Writing, photography, video and translation are significant costs too. Complete, approved content reduces back-and-forth. If you want to delegate all of it, include that work in the budget.
Complex forms, site search, maps and external integrations should be described before the quote is prepared.
Plan for French and English
Bilingual delivery affects URL structure, menus, pages, forms and editing tools. It is better to plan for it at the start than to add it after design.
Our offer includes a structure ready for both languages. Adding the second language starts at $1,500 when you supply the text. Writing and translation are scoped for the project.
Agree on who approves language quality and keeps both versions current. French content should feel natural to your Quebec audience, including prices and wording.
Costs to check before signing
- Domain registration and renewal.
- Hosting and traffic allowances.
- Licences and external services.
- Writing, translation, photography and video.
- Content migration and redirects from old URLs.
- Training and fixes after launch.
- Maintenance and future changes.
Ask whether each item is included, optional or paid directly to a third party. Prices should specify the currency and treatment of taxes.
Reduce the budget carefully
Start with the pages and functions that serve the main goal. A coherent smaller first version is often more useful than a large unfinished website.
Prepare your copy, photographs, access and approvals. Choose one person to collect feedback. Ask which pages can share a layout without losing clarity.
Avoid cutting the time spent on content or mobile checks. Both directly affect how people use the website.
Compare two quotes
Compare layouts, pages, languages, forms, writing, integrations and training side by side. Check what belongs to you and what remains licensed.
Ask about the payment schedule and what happens if content is delayed. At Clevr, payment is split into two instalments: 50% to start and 50% before launch. The usual timeline is six to eight weeks after text and photographs are ready.
After launch
Decide who will update content and take care of technical maintenance.
Our offer includes 14 days of fixes after launch, followed by a check-in call. The optional care plan is $400 a month. See the website page for its scope.
